Hispañola Health Partners, a non-profit to strengthen health care along the Dominican/Haitian borde
Jan 10, 2018
Louise Lindenmeyr is a board certified family nurse practitioner at Hudson River HealthCare, working in Hudson and Amenia. Prior to becoming an FNP in 1998, she worked as a nurse in intensive care units in NYC, as a midwife in rural Maine, and in psychiatric and substance abuse treatment. She has had extensive international experience, from working at a refugee camp during the final days of the Pol Pot regime, to remote posts in Nicaragua, Honduras and the Dominican Republic. In 2011 she crossed the border to Haiti and began working at a Ministry of Health clinic during the cholera epidemic. Finding there were no preventive services for women after pregnancy, she was inspired to begin a cervical cancer screening and treatment program and help create Hispañola Health Partners, a non-profit which she directs whose mission is to strengthen health care structures along the Dominican/Haitian border.
