Welcome to the Millbrook Rotary Club's Service Projects page, where our commitment to community and global impact shines. Annually, we proudly support local initiatives such as scholarships for Millbrook High School students, providing school supplies for those in need, gifting books to 8th graders, and distributing dictionaries to 3rd graders across four local schools.

Our dedication extends to fostering youth development through programs like the Interact Club and Rotary Youth Leadership Assembly (RYLA), as well as participating in career days at Millbrook High School. Community welfare remains at the forefront with our support for local food pantries, highway cleanups, addiction recovery centers, and cultural and artistic endeavors.

On a national and international scale, we collaborate with Rotary International to eradicate polio through PolioPlus and provide disaster relief with ShelterBox. The impact of our donations and funded projects in the current year, from surgical interventions in Zimbabwe to clean water initiatives in India, showcases our commitment to making a positive difference. Explore the diverse range of causes we've championed over the years, from aiding veterans with PTSD to contributing to disaster relief efforts in Puerto Rico. Join us in our mission to serve and uplift communities, both near and far, as we continue to embody Rotary's spirit of "Service Above Self."

3rd Grade Dictionaries

Millbrook Rotary Club's Dictionary Project is a heartwarming annual tradition, fostering literacy among local third-grade students.

During the latest visit to Alden Place Elementary School, our members distributed brand-new dictionaries to each eager student, continuing a 15-year tradition across Millbrook Central School District, Dutchess Day School, and Upton Lake Christian Academy. The global initiative aims to empower young minds with personal dictionaries.

Rotarians shared the club's commitment to literacy, gifting each student a dictionary and sparking excitement for words. Teachers, like Jason Zmudosky, expressed gratitude, noting the tangible impact on students' vocabulary exploration. Betty Thurst, a dedicated Rotarian with over a decade of involvement in this project, highlighted the joy of witnessing students' enthusiasm for a tangible learning tool. As third-grader Angelina Nuculovic joyfully exclaimed, "I already looked up the word 'volunteer!'"

This cherished project reflects our dedication to education, fostering a love for words in the hearts of our community's future leaders.

Millbrook Community Fridge

In response to the urgent food insecurity challenges exacerbated by the pandemic, the Millbrook Library, in collaboration with the Millbrook Rotary Club, initiated the Millbrook Community Fridge project. Recognizing the pressing needs of our local community, we organized a food panel with various organizations to address collective challenges and find impactful solutions. The result was the establishment of a community refrigerator, housed at the library and supported by dedicated local groups and community members each month. Partnerships with entities like Millbrook Central School District administrators, Friends of the Library, and Angels of Light HV have made this initiative a collaborative success.

Join us in supporting this vital cause by following @millbrookcommunityfridge on Instagram or simply stop by the library during open hours to make a donation. Together, let's make a difference in our community's well-being. To connect with the Community Fridge Committee (a committee open to anyone in or out of Rotary with a passion for our shared mission!) or to join the committee please email us at millbrookcommunityfridge@gmail.com

We meet at 8:00 am in the Reardon Briggs parking lot. We invite everyone to join us in preserving the beauty of our village by keeping our roads clean. Together, let's make a lasting impact on our community and the environment.
